George Titlow is Sales Director for UK and Ireland at Hoteltime. Hoteltime is a cloud-based hotel property management system, suitable for any property size, which can be managed from any device.

What can your product or service bring to the industry?

HotelTime are one of the new breed of PMS.

Cloud based, open platform, rich features - anytime access, integrations, functionality, affordable and fixed monthly costs.

How does it help solve problems for hoteliers?

A cloud-based system allows them access anytime, anywhere. Open platform means they connect to their own choice of tech. We pride ourselves on a personal approach which respects the fact that every hotel is different and should be treated as such.

We are nearly at the end of Q1 2020 already, what is your main prediction for the remainder of 2020?

Well.. I have the (dubious) advantage of answering these questions after the outbreak of Covid-19 has changed the world. I think making any predictions at a time like this is setting yourself up for a fool! So I’ll keep things generic and positive: The cream will rise, smart hoteliers will find a way through and find opportunity on the other side

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

As the heart of a hotels tech set up a PMS touches every part of the operation and therefore you get a unique insight into a so many different hotels when discussing, implementing and/or training hotels.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 things would you miss the most?

  • Access to different ingredients for cookings

  • Music

  • Family and Friends

What’s your greatest achievement in life so far?

Owning and operating a successful(ish) small business (Café) at a young(ish) age. In hindsight – it was an awful idea given I had no experience in catering or business. But I survived relatively unscathed and learnt so much. Kudos to all the entrpreneurs and small business owners out there!

What is your role within IN4Hospitality?

As one of the founding members I am involved in the organisation of the events. At the event itself I am the ‘compere’ making things run smoothly (or not), keeping the event light hearted and chairing our panel discussion and topical debates.

Do you have any pets?

No. My wife is desperate for a dog – but I have vetoed so far based on lack of garden. (Although I also love dogs)

What do you enjoy the most about being part of IN4Hospitality?

Two things, mainly:-

  • Getting out and about to learn about new markets and meet people I wouldn’t otherwise meet

  • The network and camaraderie amongst the other suppliers. Current Covid 19 crisis is a great example – we are joining together on calls to boost each others morale and share tips etc. That’s what ’having a network’ is all about!

In your opinion, what’s the biggest challenge for hotels nowadays?

  • I’ll leave the Covid 19 Crisis aside – as it’s the most obvious.

  • I think keeping abreast of current technology, policy and guest expectation. The world moves so fast nowadays and it is easy to get left behind. However this fast moving world also allows for great opportunity. Developments in tech, distribution, social media, web-based tools etc etc all mean that hotels can take advantage of a global economy and efficiencies afforded to them by technology ….if they are willing…..
